Spicy and flavorful Kerala style beef chukka


Beef chukka is a very popular traditional dish of Kerala. This dish is very common in all the restaurants of Kerala and we serve it with Porotta, Appam, Appam, Vellayappam,Ghee Rice | How to make Ghee Rice etc. It is very easy to make a flavourful dish of beef. There is no tomato added in this dish hence it is served as a dry recipe.

How to make beef chukka

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of beef
  • 1 spn of chilli powder
  • 2 spn of coriander powder
  • 1/2 spn turmeric powder
  • 3/4 spn garam masala
  • 1 tbsp of ginger garlic green chilli paste
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 no of onion
  • 5 no of green chillies
  • 3 tbsp of coconut oil
  • 1 spn pepper powder
  • half of lemon

Method

Step 1

wash and chop beef into small pieces

Step 2

Marinate beef with ginger garlic green chilli paste, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder,garam masala, and salt,

Step 3

Keep aside for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Pressure cook beef in medium flame till 5 whistles.

Step 5

Heat coconut oil in a kadai and shallow fry beef little by little once it reaches golden brown color.

Step 6

Remove from fire and keep aside

Step 7

Heat oil in a mud pot or kadai. Add chopped onion, green chillies and curry leave. Fry for one minute.

Step 8

Immediately add fried beef and fry in high flame for 5-6 minutes till the onion and beef combine well.

Step 9

Add pepper powder and again mix well in high flame.

Step 10

Switch off the flame and add lemon juice. Cover the pan and serve after 5 minutes.
